The competition

Concours d'Elegance · 100 invited vehicles

One hundred vehicles. Six categories. One winner. The competing cars are selected by invitation only, assessed by an independent panel of judges on originality, condition, rarity, and elegance. The champion is announced on Saturday, 24th of October 2026.

Competition Categories

Category I European Elegance

The European Elegance category celebrates the craftsmanship, prestige and timeless beauty of the world's most iconic European automobiles. From legendary supercars and luxury marques to grand tourers and renowned sports cars, this category showcases vehicles that represent the pinnacle of automotive design and engineering from Europe. Entrants will be judged on presentation, authenticity, provenance and the overall elegance of the vehicle, reflecting the spirit of the great international concours events.

Category II Modern Icons

Modern Icons honours the vehicles that shaped automotive culture from the 1980s through to the early 2010s. This category celebrates the rise of analogue supercars, homologation specials, air cooled legends, JDM heroes and modern performance icons that defined a generation of enthusiasts. These are the cars that filled bedroom posters, inspired gaming culture and became future collectibles. Judging will focus on originality, condition, rarity, cultural significance and enthusiast impact.

Category III Australian Heritage

Australian Heritage recognises the vehicles that helped shape Australia's unique motoring identity. From locally manufactured classics and touring car legends to iconic street machines and homologation specials, this category celebrates the stories, engineering and passion behind Australia's automotive culture. Vehicles entered into this category should reflect historical significance, authenticity and their contribution to Australian motoring heritage both on the road and in popular culture.

Category IV Preservation Class

The Preservation Class is dedicated to highly original vehicles that remain true to their factory delivered condition. Rather than rewarding restoration, this category celebrates authenticity, history and the character that only time can create. Original paint, interiors, finishes, documentation and mechanical integrity are highly valued, with judges recognising vehicles that have survived decades with their story intact. This category honours preservation over perfection.

Category V Design & Coachbuilt

Design & Coachbuilt celebrates automotive artistry and the vehicles that blur the line between engineering and sculpture. Featuring rare coachbuilt automobiles, design led creations, limited production vehicles and visually significant classics, this category recognises exceptional styling, craftsmanship and individuality. From Italian design houses to bespoke one off commissions, entrants in this class represent some of the most beautiful and creatively significant automobiles ever produced.

Category VI Race Cars

The Race Cars category celebrates the machines built for competition and the drivers, teams and engineering innovations that shaped motorsport history. From V8 legends and endurance racers to rally icons, GT machines and open wheel competitors, this category honours vehicles with genuine racing pedigree and historical significance. Entrants will be judged on authenticity, provenance, presentation and competition history, showcasing the speed, innovation and spirit that define motorsport at its highest level.


Trophies

Best of Show

Awarded to the finest automobile displayed at Autoclassica, Best of Show recognises exceptional presentation, authenticity, provenance and elegance. This is the highest honour of the event, celebrating a vehicle that represents the pinnacle of automotive history and craftsmanship.

Chairman's Award

Personally selected by the Chairman of Autoclassica, this award recognises a vehicle that embodies passion, character and significance beyond traditional judging criteria. It celebrates the spirit and emotion of motoring culture.

People's Choice

Voted by the public, the People's Choice Award celebrates the vehicle that captured the hearts and imagination of attendees across the weekend. This award reflects enthusiasm, connection and crowd appeal.

Category Winners

Each concours category will present a class winner, recognising vehicles that best represent excellence within their respective field. Judged on authenticity, presentation, history and overall significance, these awards celebrate the diversity and passion of automotive culture.
